Avanci has launched its 5G connected vehicle program to simplify the licensing of cellular technologies used in next-generation connected vehicles. Its first licensee on program launch is Mercedes-Benz.
The Avanci program covers patented technologies essential for 5G, 4G, 3G, and 2G connectivity. Including cellular vehicle-to-everything (V2X) which allows vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications as well as communication with cyclists, pedestrians, and transportation infrastructure (V2I).
The program is a next step from the Avanci 4G Vehicle program, which has more than 130 million connected vehicles with more than 80 automotive brands on board.
