CES 2024 Announcements and Unveils


The following are all of the EV-related news and items unveiled at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Presented here in no particular order.

Kia Announces ‘Platform Beyond Vehicle” Business
Kia has revealed a Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) future strategy that will initially be based around the introduction of all-new, modular vehicle designs. Kia previewed the Concept PV5 at CES to illustrate this.

Bosch Continues Work On Hydrogen Engine – Debut Set For 2024
Bosch has reaffirmed its work on components for a hydrogen combustion engine. The company plans to debut the engine this year alongside Ligier Automotive, a partner in the project.

Volkswagen Actively Integrating ChatGTP Into Its Vehicles
Volkswagen has presented its first vehicles that utilize artificial intelligence via ChatGTP as part of the IDA voice assistant system. The goal is to better integrate natural language into infotainment and other interactions in the vehicle.

Honda has announced its “Honda 0 Series” of electric vehicles, to launch in 2026, via two new concept models at CES. The Saloon and the Space-Hub introduce the series for global production.

Lotus Robotics Shows Off Latest Tech for Self-Driving
Lotus Robotics, the self-driving technology unit of Lotus, is showing off its latest offerings in autonomous software and services for businesses interested in integrating self-driving tech into operations.

Stellantis, Blackberry QNX, AWS Launch Virtual Cockpit
Stellantis, the company behind Jeep, Chrysler, Dodge, and several other brands, has introduced a first-of-its-kind virtual cockpit as a component of its Virtual Engineering Workbench. This is expected to speed up development cycles in infotainment tech and similar. IT is done in partnership with Blackberry QNX and AWS Marketplace.

Supernal Debuts eVTOL Product Concept, S-A2
Hyundai’s Supernal advanced air mobility company has unveiled the S-A2, an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehcle. The S-A2 is designed to cruise at up to 120 mph at about 1,500 feet in altitude for typical regional (25-40-mile) trips.

Magna Unveils Next-Gen 800V eDrive Solution
Magna has unveiled its next-generation 800-volt electronic drive propulsion unit. It offers significant reductions in weight, size, and performance.

Goodyear Introduces ElectricDrive 2 Tires for EVs
Goodyear Tire and Rubber has unveiled its latest ElectricDrive family tire, an all-season electric vehicle tire that uses sustainable materials, has improved rolling resistance, and longer-lasting tread.


Kia, Uber Sign MoU On Development of Platform Beyond Vehicles Development
Kia and Uber have signed a memorandum of understanding to commit the two companies to collaborate on Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicles (PBV) deployment. (See above.)
