Lotus Unveils New Emeya Hyper-GT EV

Lotus has unveiled a new model, the Emeya, an electric grand tourer. Production will begin in 2024 with targeted acceleration of 0-62mph in 2.8 seconds. Its top specification will have a dual motor setup that will deliver over 155mph in top speed.

“Bringing together our rich heritage with intelligent performance and the latest cutting-edge technologies, we’re pushing the boundaries for how a luxury electric vehicle should look and handle– making it truly for the drivers.” –Feng Qingfeng, CEO, Lotus Group.

The Lotus Emeya includes advanced active aerodynamics features like an active front grille, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. Lots calls the electric car’s low center of gravity “hyperstance.” The car’s electronically-controlled air suspension system uses onboard sensors that feel the road 1,000 times a second and automatically adjust the vehicle to ensure a smooth ride.

Lotus did not specify the Emeya’s battery size, but does say that the car can DC fast charge at up to 350kW. This allows it to add, Lotus says, up to 93 miles of charge in as little as five minutes and 80 percent charge in only 18 minutes.

“This is a Lotus like you have never seen before. We’ve built on everything Lotus has achieved so far to create a luxury performance car for the drivers, designed to inspire confidence, exhilarate with raw emotion and pure joy – connecting them to the road.” –Ben Payne, Vice-President of Design, Lotus Group

The Lotus Emeya will be the carmaker’s flagship model and will enter production in 2024.
