Mack Trucks will soon launch an electric version of its Mack Pioneer, marking its first fully in-house electric platform. Named the Mack Pioneer Electric, it will use a proprietary Mack e-axle and Proterra’s latest battery technology. Designed for regional haul, drayage, and hub-and-spoke operations, the vehicle will be available as a Day Cab or a 44″ Short Sleeper. Proterra, now part of the Volvo Group, supplies the H2-23 battery packs, which are rigorously tested for safety, durability, and performance under extreme conditions.
The electric model is based on the fuel-efficient diesel Mack Pioneer, which features aerodynamic improvements such as an aggressive windshield angle and a digital mirror system that improves visibility and fuel economy. It will also be Mack’s most connected truck to date, offering enhanced remote diagnostics, over-the-air updates, and a new MyMack app for driver convenience and vehicle control.
