AAA Survey Finds Americans Losing Interest in EVs
A new consumer survey from AAA on electric vehicles joins other major surveys in finding that American consumer interest in electric vehicle purchases is waning. Only 18 percent of adults say they would be “very likely” or “likely” to buy a new or used EV. 63 percent are “unlikely” or “very unlikely” to purchase an EV. Interest in hybrids, however, has grown by a similar amount.

Asahi Kasei Achieves Proof-of-Concept For High Ionic Conductive Electrolyte
Asahi Kasei has successfully shown proof-of-concept for a lithium-ion battery using its proprietary high ionic conductive electrolyte. The electrolyte allows for increased power outputs, including at low temperature, and improved durability at high temperatures.

BASF, NGK Release Advanced Sodium-Sulfur Batteries
BASF Stationary Energy and NGK Insulrators have released an advanced container-type sodium-sulfur (NAS) battery. The product, called NAS Model L24, was jointly developed and shows a degradation rate of less than one percent per year.

NETL Achieves Experimental Scale-Up of CMP Catalyst for Hydrogen Production
National Energy Technology Laboratory researchers have recently scaled up hydrogen production tests by increasing the catalyst load from 500g to 4.5kg. The patented NETL catalyst helps break down methane into hydrogen and solid carbon without creating CO2 emissions.

EU Commission Investigation Finds China Subsidizes EVs By Up to 38.1 Percent
The European Commission has provisionally concluded that the battery electric vehicles value chain in China benefits from unfair subsidization of up to 38.1 percent. This, the commission finds, is unfair to European Union battery-electric vehicle producers.

Hyundai XCIENT FCEV Trucks Rack Up 10M KM in Switzerland
