Ram Truck Pulls EV Truck Plans, Sticking With EREV

Ram Truck announced that it will not be making a battery-electric pickup truck, citing the waning market for full-sized EV pickups. Instead, Ram will continue with its extended-range electric truck (formerly the Ramcharger) under the name REV. The Ram 1500 REV is expected to enter the market in 2026.

This may be confusing for some consumers. The Ram REV was formerly the name for the all-electric pickup. That is now no longer going to be built. The Ram Ramcharger was formerly the name for the range-extended electric pickup. That is still going to come to market, but will now be called the REV.

With this announcement, Ram Truck’s website shows both trucks with the old names as well as some changed pages with the new names. That will eventually get sorted, but for those looking for more information, it could become confusing in the meantime.

This change comes as sales for electric pickups continue to struggle.
