The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has added two hydrogen fuel cell electric (HFCEV) buses to its fleet. These are the first HFCEV buses to be commissioned in Nevada. RTC has ordered seven in all to be delivered by fall 2024.
The buses, manufactured by New Flyer with fuel cell technology by Ballard, will be fueled by Air Products. Funding for the buses was partially granted with a $3.8 million Low or No Emission Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation. Staff training for the maintenance and operation of the new 60-foot transit buses was also funded by the grant.
RTC expects the buses to be operational in Las Vegas, Nevada very soon.
