Stellantis and Factorial Energy have achieved a significant milestone in solid-state battery development. They’ve successfully validated automotive-sized solid-state battery cells utilizing Factorial’s proprietary FEST® (Factorial Electrolyte System Technology). These 77Ah cells boast an energy density of 375 Wh/kg, support over 600 charging cycles, and can charge from 15% to over 90% in just 18 minutes at room temperature. They also operate reliably in temperatures ranging from -30°C to 45°C (-22°F to 113°F) and can discharge at rates up to 4C, enhancing electric vehicle performance .
Stellantis plans to incorporate these solid-state batteries into a demonstration fleet by 2026. The collaboration with Factorial Energy extends beyond cell development to optimizing pack architecture, improving vehicle integration, and enhancing overall range and cost efficiency .
