Stellantis and Samsung have announced a second partnership for electric vehicle battery production. This second facility will be in Kokomo, Indiana as the second Gigafactory in the StarPlus Energy joint venture.
The new plant is expected to begin production in 2027 with an annual capacity of 34 gigawatt hours. The joint venture will invest more than $3.2 billion and create 1,400 new jobs in the area. Total investment for both Gigafactory facilities is now at over $6.3 billion and 2,800 new jobs.
Construction of the first StarPlus Energy gigafactory is already underway and is on track to open in early 2025.
