Symbio Joint Venture StackPack 75 Hydrogen Fuel Cell System

Symbio, a joint venture between Faurecia and Michelin, is a prominent provider of hydrogen fuel cell systems. The company aims to produce 50,000 fuel cell systems annually by 2025, leveraging its state-of-the-art gigafactory in Saint-Fons, France.

In May 2023, Stellantis announced plans to acquire an equal stake in Symbio, joining Faurecia and Michelin as co-owners. This strategic partnership is expected to accelerate the development and adoption of hydrogen mobility solutions across various sectors.

According to Symbio, StackPack 75 offers:

  • Best-in-class compactness: with a volume of 268L and a mass of 200kg, it underpins maximum payload, range and ease of integration.
  • High operating temperature (85°C) improving heat dissipation efficiency and reducing cooling capacity requirements. As a result, the size of the cooling system and its fan power are also reduced, facilitating vehicle integration and saving energy.
  • Extensive modularity to meet all technical and operational specifications including the possibility of combining two or more StackPack in a single vehicle to deliver requested power output.
