Toyota Unveils 3rd-Gen Hydrogen System for Commercial Use

Toyota has unveiled its third-generation hydrogen fuel cell system, which offers significant improvements over previous versions. The new system boasts a 30% increase in power output, enhanced efficiency, and a more compact design, making it suitable for a wider range of applications, including passenger vehicles, buses, and heavy-duty trucks.

Additionally, Toyota has focused on reducing production costs and increasing durability, aiming to accelerate the adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology in the automotive industry.

The main features of the 3rd Gen FC System are:

  • Improvement in durability, up to 2x (two times) that of the prior generation, achieving durability comparable to diesel engines and maintenance-free design.
  • Improvement in fuel efficiency of 1.2x that of the prior generation, allowing for a 20% more cruising range.
