Vitesco Technologies and the Cebi Group are partnering to develop the Advanced Sensor Cleaning System (ASCS). Leveraging the expertise of Vitesco’s advanced powertrain tech and Cebi’s washer systems specialties, the companies hope to create an automated sensor washing system for semi-automated and automated vehicles.
The highly-integrated, all-in-one solution aims towards keeping more than 10 environmental sensors clean with water pressure of up to 7 bar using just a single infrastructure. Cameras, lidar, and other autonomous driving sensors can lose function if not kept clean.
The all-in-one sensor cleaning system is a key product for autonomous electric driving. A single high-pressure pump is sufficient to supply several sensors, and with lower water consumption. Thanks to its high degree of integration, it is also very easy and economical to accommodate in the vehicle. —Robert Paul, head of Actuators Business Unit, Powertrain Solutions Division at Vitesco Technologies
Production for the system is expected to commence in 2026 as OEM distribution. Vitesco supplies a compact, high-pressure pump with two to seven bar pressure delivery, a distributor to redirect flow from the pump to the correct sensor, and control electronics. Cebi provides the reservoir with up to four individual washer pumps for windshield, headlamp, and sensor cleaning. Plus hosing, nozzle technology, and mechanical system integration with the vehicle.
