The Volkswagen ID.4, which we reviewed here, will receive several enhancements for the 2024 model year. A new drive unit for 82 kWh models will add horsepower and range in both rear-wheel and all-wheel drive configurations. A new 12.9-inch infotainment display is also coming to 82 kWh models.
The VW ID.4 will continue to be offered in both 62 and 82 kWh configurations and as rear-wheel or AWD. A new performance drive unit in 82 kWh models of the ID.4 will raise horsepower to 330. Volkswagen has not released what the added range estimation will be, promising that information closer to market introduction.
The standard 12-inch infotainment display in current ID.4 models will be replaced with a new, backlit 12.9-inch display for 82 kWh models. A new climate control interface and revised infotainment menu goes along with the new display. This also changes the position of the shift knob and the steering wheel’s button layout.
The shift knob is now a stick off the steering column, similar to the Mercedes-Benz layout. Though VW did not explain the change to steering buttons or climate controls, photos indicate that climate is now on a slider at the bottom of the infotainment screen, as before, but longer so it should be easier to adjust. Buttons on the wheel look similar to before, so we assume they are adjusted for sensitivity or size.
The 2024 VW ID.4 is expected to enter dealerships late this year.
