Voltu Motor and City of Riverside Testing New Work Trucks

Voltu Motor, a developer of zero-emission commercial vehicle technology, has announced a pilot project in collaboration with the City of Riverside’s Fleet Division. This initiative will deploy 10 high-performance Class 3 electric work trucks, each equipped with Voltu’s proprietary on-board fast charger.

Voltu says this innovative system utilizes the vehicle’s 620-horsepower motor and power electronics to enable fast charging up to 200 kW from AC sources. The integration of such advanced charging technology addresses a significant challenge in the adoption of electric commercial vehicles: the availability and speed of charging infrastructure.

By enabling rapid charging directly from AC sources, Voltu’s solution offers greater flexibility and efficiency for fleet operations. The City of Riverside’s participation in this pilot project, it says, underscores its commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. The deployment of these electric work trucks is expected to reduce emissions and operational costs, contributing to the city’s environmental and economic goals.
