At the ACT Expo in Anaheim, Volvo Construction Equipment unveiled two new mid-size electric machines: the L120 Electric wheel loader and an upgraded EC230 Electric excavator. These are Volvo CE’s first medium-sized electric models, joining a lineup that already includes smaller excavators, loaders, and a compactor.
The EC230 Electric features a 650V, 450 kWh lithium-ion battery that provides 7–8 hours of runtime and supports fast charging (20% to 80% in one hour with a 250 kW charger). It also introduces new-generation upgrades like a redesigned cab, intelligent electro-hydraulics, and advanced safety tech including 360° visibility with object/person detection.
The L120 Electric, still in pilot testing, is a 22-ton machine with a 6-ton lifting capacity and up to 9 hours of battery life depending on usage. It supports multiple fast-charging options and is expected to be available for order by late 2025.
Both machines offer the benefits of zero emissions, reduced noise, and lower maintenance, helping customers transition to cleaner, more efficient job sites.
